Saturnian writing prompts from May 12 Join the Studio for June! Learn more here. Our session yesterday fell in-between last week’s Full Moon in Scorpio and this week’s Third Quarter/Waning Half Moon in Aquarius. We talked about eight phases of the Moon corresponding to the eight traditional ‘Pagan” holidays celebrating the Sun’s cycles. Our Moon phase yesterday would roughly correspond to the festival of Lammas in late August, the time of first harvest. As for Saturn, our subject of this month, that planet stationed (paused in its travels) retrograde last Sunday. A slow moving planet anyway, it is spending nearly two months at 1 degree of Aquarius before traveling back into Capricorn, adding emphasis to the need to pause, and offering time for a ‘reality check’. Saturn rules gravity (and gravitas) and this time of turning inward can help us find our center of gravity, where we are neither pulled forward nor holding back. We read the poem above together for inspiration. Our prompts for the short writing session were these: What woke you up this morning?; or Write of a time you were a teacher. Our longer writing period began with these prompts: Use this sentence: “That was the day she received the biggest reality check of her life”; or Use the poem above (also here) as a starting point.
