Plutonian writing prompts This month in the writing studio, we are exploring the planet Pluto and journeys in the Underworld. In yesterday’s session, we began by talking about last night’s Full Moon, which marked the peak of the Aries lunar cycle that began on March 24th. Then we used the planet Pluto to help us go deeply into the shadowy places. Pluto, archetype of the guardian of the Underworld, is in a challenging relationship with the Full Moon, intensifying the Moon’s effects. Our first prompts were these: What do you or your character fear most – and what great love does that fear hide? Describe what someone might find in a treasure chest you have hidden. Our longer writing period began with these prompts: Write of a time you or your character found that love was a stronger force than fear. Write a story of buried treasure, guarded by what appear to be evil monsters. Use the first line of Theodore Roethke’s poem “In a dark time”: “In a dark time, the eye begins to see” You can find the full Roethke poem here.
