The wisdom of plants with spiritual herbalist Angela Segraves

One of the great tragedies of our education (indoctrination?) is that we are taught to believe humans are the only intelligent life forms. In fact, until recently, only humans were considered to be conscious. The rest of creation was thought to be running on mechanical instincts and predictable biochemical processes. There is a school of thought that applies this to us as well, but we’ll ignore that for now.

Indigenous cultures around the world have known differently all along and, in fact, modern science is beginning to catch up. Rather than some kind of theoretical and abstract idea, though, recognizing – and honoring – the consciousness and intelligence of everything that exists completely changes the nature of our relationships. Once you see something as simple as a stone or flower or cow as aware and alive, you are likely to treat it differently.

In the latest episode of The Natural Wisdom Podcast, I talked with spiritual herbalist Angela Segraves about how we can re-learn to connect with plants and their wisdom. Most of us are familiar with plants as food and herbal medicine, but there are many ways to get to know them and receive their assistance – on a mental, emotional and spiritual level as well as for physical health and nourishment. Angela  led us through a short meditation to find a plant ally at the end of the show, and we discussed how to get our minds out of the way of our wisdom!

I hope you enjoy it, and if you do, please share it!
