The karma of food, and the importance of consciousness and reverence In today’s episode of The Natural Wisdom Podcast, I talked far longer than I expected to about food karma. Eating is a fundamental way in which we connect with the Earth, and our stories and beliefs around food can strengthen or hinder that connection. Much of what I know about food and eating comes from Ayurveda, and I draw on that wisdom tradition to talk about when and how to eat, as well as what. The books I recommend in this episode are “The Yoga of Eating”, by Charles Eisenstein, as well as “The Three Season Diet”, by Dr. John Douillard. If I had to pick one, I’d choose Charles’ for its depth and simplicity. Douillard’s book is an excellent primer on the Ayurvedic diet, specifically. After recording this episode, I have continued thinking of things I wanted to say on food and eating, so there may well be a part 2 at some point. As always, enjoy, and let me know if you have questions, comments, or additional topics.
