Rest. The simple act of resting deeply can offer tremendous healing to our bodies and minds, and perhaps even our Souls. The practice of yoga nidra, or ‘sleep yoga’ offers profound healing benefits by helping us touch into the deeper layers of ourselves.

Designed to lead us into the state between waking and sleeping, the practice is done lying down on a comfortable surface, with a light cover and any other props needed to lie still for some time. A pillow under the knees can help with a tight lower back, for example.

Here is a short (20 minute) yoga nidra session I recorded in the mountains during early summer. The mountain birds and nearby creek offer a soothing accompaniment to my instructions.
